From the producers of the sell-out theatre productions, HATS, Rose Red, and Stilted, comes a brand new tasty dish of a comedy to titillate the tastebuds.
Following highly successful runs in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, Pieter Bosch Botha reprises 36 characters in Becky Mode’s Off-Broadway hit comedy show, “Fully Committed”, for 1 night only at the Sprokkelster Theatre. This devastatingly funny one act follows a day in the life of Sam Cooper, an out-of-work actor who mans the red-hot reservation line at Cape Town's number one restaurant. Desperate callers will stop at nothing – coercion, threats, bribes, and histrionics – in their zeal to land a prime reservation. Meanwhile absentee managers, an oversexed maître d’ and the celebrity chef from hell threaten to drive Sam over the edge. One restaurant, one actor, 36 characters, and over 200 character changes. Award-winning Director, Megan Furniss, and Bosch Botha have cleverly localized the story in a way that never seems forced and adds new layers of comedy. “It’s a gastronomical explosion of virtuosic brilliance that leaves the audience hungry for more”, says producer, Richard Antrobus. He adds: “This is the perfect festival piece: it’s light, funny and different and showcases Bosch Botha’s skill and talent to slide effortlessly from one character to another. The audience share Sam’s frustrations and delights and identify with all the crazy quirks of the various characters he encounters. We know these people very well. Heck, we related to half of them!” Beecham House is abuzz. The rumor circling the halls is that the home for retired musicians is soon to play host to a new resident. Word is, it's a star. For Reginald Paget (Tom Courtenay), Wilfred Bond (Billy Connolly) and Cecily Robson (Pauline Collins) this sort of talk is par for the course at the gossipy home. But they're in for a special shock when the new arrival turns out to be none other than their former singing partner, Jean Horton (Maggie Smith). Her subsequent career as a star soloist, and the ego that accompanied it, split up their long friendship and ended her marriage to Reggie, who takes the news of her arrival particularly hard. Can the passage of time heal old wounds? And will the famous quartet be able to patch up their differences in time for Beecham House's gala concert? -- (C) Weinstein General Movie information:

Hailed around the world as one of the greatest movies ever made, the Academy Award–winning Bicycle Thieves, directed by Vittorio De Sica, defined an era in cinema. In poverty-stricken postwar Rome, a man is on his first day of a new job that offers hope of salvation for his desperate family when his bicycle, which he needs for his work, is stolen. With his young son in tow, he sets off to track down the thief. Simple in construction and profoundly rich in human insight, Bicycle Thieves embodies the greatest strengths of the Italian neorealist movement: emotional clarity, social rectitude, and brutal honesty.
