23 JAN 2013
Following the Christmas Tree arranged in December 2012 by the Hangklip-Kleinmond Tourism Bureau, 10 Children were treated to a Zipline adventure sponsored by SA Forest Adventures. The outing took place in Hermanus on Friday the 18th of January, and the group was accompanied by Klem Dunstan (Chairman of Child Welfare and HK Tourism representative). To most people a 6m high platform is intimidating. The children had a few anxious moments at the thought of launching themselves off this platform , zipping through trees and controlling the braking system themselves. There were shouts of glee as they perfected their landings and the exclamations of ‘yikes this is criminal!‘ echoing through the forest made the day really worthwhile. The children were then treated to target practice with paintball guns where there was a joint first place. They enjoyed some snacks while talking about their adventure filled day before returning to Kleinmond. END Written by Celeste Scheepers Hangklip-Kleinmond Tourism Bureau

RED HEART RUM PRESENTS: RAMfest: Cape Town REAL ALTERNATIVE MUSIC. So, who says dream circles have to be a dainty affair? Get your boots on Cape Town and join us in the woods for a frolicking stampede of a very grand scale! The seat of many mystical tales, the Cape of Storms has always inspired tales of legendary journeys and unfathomable heroism, both real and imagined. It's in this sweeping spirit of sheer epicness that the organisers of RAMfest Cape Town bring you a 2013 line-up that is set to rival the scope of well-known international festivals and steeply raise the bar where local production value is concerned. No memorable tale is complete without a grand setting, which is why we've decided to give even Tolkien a run for his money and whisk festival goers away to the lush shores of Riviersonderend for this year's proceedings. Aptly named the 'Circle of Dreams', our 2013 venue provides the perfect backdrop for all manner of phenomenal experiences and promises to win over even the most ardent ‘camp- phobics.’ RAMfest organiser Dawid Fourie says: "RAMfest has found a new home! It is going to be one of the best festival venues in South Africa. We are very excited about the amazing artists we have secured this year and we are looking forward to be celebrating Real Alternative Music." The next level RAMfest CT 2013 line-up includes International acts: Rise Against (USA), British Metalcore band Bring Me The Horizon, Paul Harding en Ben Verse from Pendulum (Australia and England) and some of SA`s wildest and most treasured acts including Jack Parow, Van Coke Kartel, Beast, Goodnight Wembley and more. This year there will be 4 stages at RAMfest Cape Town: The Red Heart Rum Stage for the MAIN vibe, the Monster Energy Alternative Stage for our brothers and sisters in Metal, the Olmeca Tequila Electronic Stage for pumping up the volume and the BOOM stage for rounding it all off with some more good, solid, rocking tunes. Tickets: R185pp Tickets available at Computicket Storyline Antoine Sforza, a thirty-year-old young man, left his village ten years before in order to start a new life in the big city, but now that his father, a traveling grocer, is in hospital after a stroke, he more or less reluctantly accepts to come back to replace him in his daily rounds. Back in the village, accompanied by Claire, a young woman he loves but who hesitates to commit herself, he does the job half-satisfactorily. Too blunt, not in harmony with the locals, he offends them more than he serves them. Fortunately Claire, who has more business acumen, helps him to improve his skills. On the other hand, the relationships are tense with his brother François and even worse with his father, who despises him. So when the latter is back in the village, the situation deteriorates... In the early 1970s, Sixto Rodriguez was a Detroit folksinger who had a short-lived recording career with only two well received but non-selling albums. Unknown to Rodriguez, his musical story continued in South Africa where he became a pop music icon and inspiration for generations. Long rumored there to be dead by suicide, a few fans in the 1990s decided to seek out the truth of their hero's fate. What follows is a bizarrely heartening story in which they found far more in their quest than they ever hoped, while a Detroit construction laborer discovered that his lost artistic dreams came true after all.
