Eight concerts will be performed in the historic churches of Greyton and Genadendal, as well as in smaller venues in these two neighbouring villages.
The focus of the festival is on classical music concerts, but there will also be art exhibitions, wine tastings, various food events and live music at the popular Greyton Morning Market. The festival line-up include “The Songs”, a concert by the soprano Magdalene Minnaar and pianist Stefan Lombard with guest artist tenor Lukhanyo Moyake, pianists Jose Dias and Megan-Geoffrey Prins in “Chopin’s Diary”, the vocal group from Khayelitsha, Heavenly Quartez, organist Winand Grundling in “14 Stations of the Cross”, the choir of the University of Stellenbosch under the baton of Andre van der Merwe, and “Trio with a Twist”, consisting of well-known pianist Janine Neethling with Bridget Rennie Solonen on flute an Lizzie Rennie on viola. One of the highlights of the festival is a concert with a star-studded cast, compiled by local pianist Philippus Hugo and featuring soprano Caroline Modiba, mezzo-soprano Minette du Toit-Pearce, saxophonist Abraham Mennen, the percussion duo of Cherilee Adams and Dylan Tabsher, the young and exciting string trio of Emile de Roubaix (viola), Christine-Marie Louw (violin) and Tobias Kotze (cello) and the church choirs of Greyton and Genadendal. Some of the smaller concert venues include High Hopes Guest House, hosting “The Next generation”, a concert by young artists Francois Botha (piano) and Anna van der Merwe (violin), and the Searles Trading Post Theatre, where well-known cabaret artists Godfrey Johnson and Emile Minnie will be performing “Naughty Classics”, a late night show aimed at a mature audience. Various restaurants will be offering live light classical music with their meals, and wines of the region will be available for tasting throughout the village.
