Napier Patat Festival – 15, 16, 17 June 2012
Napier will be in festive mood again at their annual Patat Festival weekend of 15-17 June. The Festival boasts one of the most beautiful but also challenging half marathons - a scenic mountain bike race. Close to a hundred stalls will be scattered around the peripheral of the last lap for the runners and cyclists. Local wine and beer can be sampled while having a bird’s eye view of the activities. The Patat Festival will not be true to form without a stall selling plates of food with soet patat and snoek. All nine restaurants in this tiny but quaint village will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner during the weekend and Napier will again prove itself worthy of its accolade as the food capital of the Overberg. A detailed programme will be available closer to the time but, once again, there will be the ever popular open gardens, an art ramble to showcase our local talent, a splendid display of vintage cars, tractors and trucks, a quaint parade through town … so book your table for lunch early to secure a seat on the veranda of one of the local restaurants. As always, this is a great chance to experience a weekend away from the city in the heart of the Overberg amongst the rolling hills of wheat and canola, with fresh air, blue skies and the friendliness of small town inhabitants.
