Laurika, a South African singer-songwriter, sings in English as well as Afrikaans. She had a hit single in 1979 with Kinders van die Wind (Children of the Wind), written by Koos du Plessis. The song featured prominently in the Afrikaans television series "Phoenix & Kie" in the late seventies. From there Laurika established herself as one of Afrikaans music's most prolific artists, spanning a career of 35 years and still going strong.
